What Parents Say:

“Your unique goal setting advice has made a huge difference.

My daughter’s basketball coach was great at setting end goals but wasn’t familiar with setting performance goals. Once I shared with my daughter the difference between the two, she began setting her own performance goals.

She immediately jumped from averaging 4 points per game to scoring 14 points.

Best of all, as a result of her new skills, Danielle is becoming a real leader on and off the court. She’s even been named team captain this year - as a sophomore!  Thanks so much for such a valuable service.”

K.H, girls’ basketball parent

“I sure wish I’d attended Pam’s workshop and understood these principles when my kids were little… I’ve had to ask my older teens forgiveness for how I acted.”

G.C.

“Highly recommended. Great insight on how to be supportive of your athlete’s goals and understand a parent’s role and their choices. Pam is very good at engaging interaction.”

Ken Gabriel

“Pam tailored the workshop very well to our group and time frame. She was excellent at soliciting participation, welcoming questions, and creating a warm, friendly environment for learning.”

E.S.

“Very accomplished. The workshop was very well thought out – a nice balance of talk and activity.”

Judy R.

“She is excellent – very efficient in her explanations, clear and not too wordy, and relaxed and focused.”

M.R.

 Welcome Sports Parents!

You’ve come to the right place if you want to:

Discover how to bring out the best in your athlete.
Learn how to have it all – athletic achievement, fun, and a happy family.

At their best, youth sports are filled with excitement, compelling challenges, and opportunities to grow. Participation can be a rewarding experience for everyone involved.

At the same time, most parents of aspiring athletes find it’s not easy. There’s a lot to stay on top of. It can be confusing at times. Like how does a parent determine the line between encouraging and pushing their child? It’s easy to cross it without meaning to. Yet the consequences may be costly.

It also makes a big difference knowing exactly how to help a particular child manage the pressures of competition. And what about the pressures on parents and siblings when there’s a talented athlete needing a lot of support – time, attention, and money -- to fulfill their potential?

No doubt about it, it’s no small task to meet the challenges of raising an athlete in a sports environment that is becoming more and more competitive.

Any of these concerns on your mind?

My child is:

  • feeling too much pressure to win
  • not having much fun
  • feeling less motivated or talking about quitting
  • too focused on what they are doing wrong
  • unable to communicate concerns or upsets with the coach
  • overburdened with too many extracurricular activities
  • not paying enough attention to academics
  • acting cocky and demanding
  • feeling worse about herself, rather than better
  • dealing poorly with losing

Our family is experiencing:

  • a feeling of tension around sports performance
  • our time and energy being consumed by our participation in sports
  • some family members feeling left out
  • excessive criticism or over-coaching
  • too much importance placed on winning

You are the biggest influence

Hi, I’m Pam Champagne. As a high-ranking junior tennis player at the national level, I lived daily with unrelenting pressure to win and eroding self-confidence that affected me for decades. However, a seed was planted. One day I would help other kids and parents avoid these damaging pitfalls.

You have the most profound and longest lasting impact on your children. Knowing this, I created the PALS (sm) Program, “Parenting Athletes for Lifelong Success.” PALS (sm) provides you with winning solutions to your pressing concerns.

Be a winner at sports parenting

You will come to understand clearly what helps and what hurts your athlete, and how to avoid doubts and future regrets. You will gain confidence that you are giving your child the very best shot at fulfilling their potential as an athlete and, most importantly, as a human being.
