Parent
Workshops
Pam’s upbeat, informative
workshops show parents how
to be winners at sports
parenting by
learning the best ways to
support their child’s sports
and lifelong success.
Parents discover what helps
and what hurts their child
athlete through
understanding the “8 Winning
Practices for Parenting
Athletes.” Participation in
the workshop will promote
these benefits:
Higher levels of team
spirit and morale
Less friction and
negativity
Higher performance
Coaches, parents, and
athletes working together
more smoothly
Better home life for kids
and parents
Any of these concerns on
your mind?
“Winners for Life:
How to Champion your
Athlete” is Pam’s
introductory, signature
workshop. The title and
slant is personalized for
your specific sport.
When parents
participate in this
workshop, they will learn:
Why the right emotional
support is their Number 1
job and how to provide it in
spades
To understand the Sports
Support Triangle (sm) and
where they fit in
To acknowledge their
strengths as sports parents
and pinpoint areas for
development
through a self-assessment
tool
To identify key distinctions
between criticism and
constructive feedback
How to match their level of
support with their child’s
goals, level of enthusiasm,
and
level of commitment
The 4 essential elements to
championing their athlete
effectively
How to increase their
championing skills to boost
their athlete’s
self-confidence,
performance, and happiness.
When parents become more knowledgeable and skilled in these ways, it leads to a more positive sports experience for everyone involved.
What is the workshop
format?
“Winners for Life"
is a workshop, not a
lecture. It’s like the
difference between being a
sports spectator and a
player. Plenty of time is
allowed for group discussion
and exercises in order to
maximize the learning
experience.
For optimum effectiveness
during the presentation, Pam
will monitor and adjust the
focus and content depending
upon the responses and needs
of your particular group.
The workshop is typically
three hours long, and
participants receive useful
handouts.
How do groups usually fundthese workshops?
1. Get a sponsor.
One option is to find a
patron or a business that
would like to associate its
good name with an event that
promotes a more positive
sports experience for
parents, kids, and coaches.
You can offer them excellent
publicity and good will by
sending out press releases
announcing the event and
their sponsorship. Banners
and handouts can include
their logo.
2. Self-sponsor.
Investing club or
organizational funds in a
workshop that focuses on
helping parents, coaches,
administrators, and kids
work together more
harmoniously and
productively is a wise
investment. There are
strategies you can use to
ensure high attendance from
parents.
3. Make it a fund raiser.
Another possibility is to
use the “Winners for
Life” workshop as a
unique and effective way to
raise funds for your team,
club, or association.
You avoid common hassles
like excessive
administration, complexity,
and high effort for low
returns. This workshop is
simple for organizers – it’s
a one-time event,
easy-to-organize, and offers
low effort for high returns.
Instead of the usual
magazine or candy sales, you
introduce a fresh program
that solves another pressing
need. You receive double the
benefits since workshop
attendees will learn how to
actively – and positively –
support their athletes’
success, both on and off the
athletic field.
How far in advance do we
need to book?
It’s a good idea to book
early to avoid
disappointment. Ideally,
workshops are booked 60-90
days in advance. It’s
important to allow time for
proper promotion of your
event.
